APPOINTMENT APPROVED.

Advice lias been, received by the Governor-General, Lord Galway, that His Majesty the King has been graciously pleased to approve of the appointment of Colonel .T. L. Dnigan, New Zealand Stall' Corps Officer, Commanding the Northern Command, as aide-de-camp (additional) to the King, in succession to Colonel I*. Synion, who retired on August 5 last.
Colonel John E. Duigan, D.5.0., was born in 1882. He joined the Permanent Force in 1903 as a cadet, and by 1005 he had -risen to the rank of lieutenant. He served in South Africa from 1000 to
1902, and was awarded the Queen's Medal, four clasps. He served with the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces in the Great War, and wa<i awarded the D.S.O. He assumed the position of chief stafl' officer commanding the Northern Command in 1919.
