NEW ALLIANCE WITH POLAND MD FRANCE?
IMPORTANT TALKS.
Repercussion pf German Rearmament.
ENVOY'S VISIT TO PARIS. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 1.30 p.m.) PARIS, August 31. Restoration of a Franco-Polish alliance is believed to be the underlying objective of a brief visit of General Rydzsmigly, InspectorGeneral of the Polish Army, who interviewed M. Blum and M. Delbos.
Well-informed people state that General liydzsmig v gave France important assurances foreshadowing a vital change in Poland's foreign policy.
The Paris "Midi" says: "Poland, very disturbed by German rearmament, is ready to seek new military guarantees from France. We must do everything possible to see that General Rydzsmigly returns to Warsaw with a feeling of success."
General Rydzsmfgly left for Rheims to watch the French Army manoeuvres.
The "Daily Chronicle" Paris correspondent says tliat General Rydzsmigly is discussing a French loan of £48,000,000 to finance Polish rearmament, 80 per cent to be spent on armament contracts with France, and the remainder to be devoted to construction of armament factories in Poland.
It is understood France is listening sympathetically as refusal would risk throwing Poland into the arms of Germany.
