RUGBY FOOTBALL.
POLICE MATCH
AUCKLAND V. WELLINGTON. EDEX PARK ATTRACTION. The first police inter-provincial match between the Auckland and "Wellington teams will be played at Eden Park tomorrow. The trophy at stake will be the Xew Zealand Police Challenge Cup. The funds are to aid the Crippled Children's Fund, and that good in addition to the prospect of a good match, should draw a large attendance. Both teams have players who have been prominent in big football. The curtain-raiser will be ' a match between the Commercial Travellers and the Auckland Theatre Managers.' Arrangements have been made for the Air Force to assist, and a Rugby ball is to be dropped from a 'plane on to the playing area before the teams start. The police teams are:— Wellington (black and white)— Fullback, Pointon; three-quarters, Wakelin, Eden, McJannet; five-eighths, Beet and Harris; half-back, Haivke; forwards, Hull Palmer, Waple, Barry, Wilson, Miles' Fell, Cleverley. Emergency: Arnst.
Auckland (blue and white) .—Full-back, Elliot; three-quarters, Hotham, Saunders' Duncan; five-eighths, Stewart, Lane (captain); half-back, Roddick; forwards Downie, Galloway, Miller, Kelk, Harris, Lilley, Fowler. Emergencies: Rogers (backs). Pollock (forwards).
