THE COLTMAN CUP

SUCCESS OF K. C. WARD,

.Under adverse weather conditions with occasional heavy rfiowprs accompanying a boisterous westerly wind the liual of the handicap match play competition for the Coltmun Cup was decided on the Akanina links during the week-end over 3<i holes between K. C. Ward (12) and C. E. Cammick (9). . Following an impressive display in" which he produced golf of a high standard Ward ran out a comfortable winner by the margin of 9 up and 7 to play. Completing the morning round in SO, Ward was 5 upon his opponent, and this advantage he Increased to 0 up with a win in 4 at the twenty-iirst hole. The following hole was halved in four's, and Ward became 7 up with a goßd three at the twenty-third. Cammiek holed a lengthly putt for a birdie four at the long twenty-fourth to reduce the deficit, but Ward notched another win at the twenty-fifth to be seven up once more. A half resulted at the next hole, and with a win nt the twenty-seventh Ward was in the sound position of being eight up with nine to play. Halving the twenty-eighth in four's Ward became dormy, and he clinched matters on the next green, when he registered a birdte four for the hole nnd match. *

Following are the results of games Played by members of the Golf Club on Saturday:—Canadian' foursomes: N. Johnston aud J. Combes, 77 net; Campbell and Cleary, 78 net.

In the Junior championship semi-final Sutclifle beat Bluek, 2 and 1.

R.S.A. TOURNAMENT,

The third annual golf tournament for R.S.A. members played at Okoroire last week-end resulted in a win for H. V. Holmes, Te Avyamutu, with a score of 74, 7G—150; J. Banks, of Cambridge, was •second with 77, 75—152; Itarnett, of Te Awamutu, was third with 79, Sl—loo, and E. V. Daldy, of Ilu'ntly, was fourth with 78, 74—102. The two previous tournaments were won by M. Barnett and H. V. Holmes, both of Te Awamutu. ' .

The Saturday morning medal round resulted: —>N. Illgglnson, Okoroire, 74—14— Co; W. Guy, Matauiata, Sl—l3-—-OS; H. Toombs, Hamilton, 80 —12—08. The afternoon bogey was won by T. Aiken, Auckland, 2 up.

The Sunday morning medal round was wou by J. Kilgour, Mamaku, 80—20 —00, nnd the afternoon medal round by E. L. Griffiths, Whangarei, SO—l8 —OS. The Handicap Cup was won by J. Kilgour (Mamaku), with a score of 00 and 71, F. Codd, also of Mamaku, being l-uniler-up with 67.and 71. The championship carries with it the Dewar Cup.
