"VERY BEST BLOOD"
VALUABLE HORSES.
SHIPMENT FROM SCOTLAND.
CAWDOR CUP WINNER,
The most valuable consignment of Clydesdale horses to tome to New Zealand arrived by the Port Hobart early this morning. There are nine stallions and colts and seven mares, and included among the last-mentioned is the rising three-year-old Eosetta, winner of tlie Cawdor Cup, President's Medal and the female championship of Scotland, the highest honours available.
The consignment of 10 has been brought to the Dominion by Mr. David Adams, of Auchencraig, Dumbarton, Scotland. Mr. Adams is one of the biggest breeders of Clydesdales in Scotland, and his stud, founded 30 years ago, has supplied more winners for Australia and New Zealand than any other stud li. the world. The winner of the Cawdor Cup, the highest honour a Clydesdale can achieve, has been supplied by Mr. Adams' stud on two occasions.
When seen on the Port Hobart this morning Mr. Adaiiis said he sent his first shipment of Clydesdales to Australia about ten years ago, but the present shipment contained the very best blood, and Kosetta was certainly the best filly of the breed. All had passed a veterinary examination and had arrived in excellent condition. Except for the last six or seven days, when extremely bad weather had been encountered, the trip had been a good one
The agents - for the shipment are Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., and the horses will be sent to Wellington this week and there sold at auction at the firm's Trentliaoi on SeptemJber 9. •»
