ON 'CHANGE.
WEEK OPENS QUIETLY WOOLWORTHS (SYDNEY) LOWER. TOOTH'S BREWERY FIRM. A new week opened quietly on the Auckland Stock Exchange this morning, }nd bidding was far from brisk. No business was recorded in the banking or insurance sections, and there were few changes in quotations. Xew Zealands were quoted from £1 19/3 to £1 19/9. Miscellaneous issues, both New Zealand ;j.nd Australian, were rather dull. Auckland Gas shares had buyers at £1 3/, sellers 4d higher. Wilsons . Cements were quoted from £1 15/6 to £1 17/. G. J. Coles had business 2d higher, at £4 0/6, with a subsequent market between £4 and £4 0/9. The Waihi group was again firm. Buyers moved up to 19/ for Marthas, to iO/7 for Waihis, aiid remained at 3/6 for Junctions, Woolworths (Sydney) eased further with sale 1/ lower, at £5 6/6, and more available at that figure, buyers dropping back to five guineas.- In Government Stocks the 3V2'"s sold 15/ higher, at £103 15/, but '40's looked a shade easier with sellers at £101 7/6. Tooth's Breweries had a good market, ■with business 1/ up, at £2 14/9. after which buyers remained in at £2 11/G, while sellers withdrew. Few Sales at Noon, Only four sales were finalised at noon, when the market was dull in all sections. In the banking limits were slightly narrowed for Commercials, and buyers dame in Id higher, for New Zealands. There were a/so accommodation movements in insurances, affecting Nationals and South British. Among breweries, New Zealands were asked for at £2 12/. For Farmers' Trading buyers came in 2d above the morning level, at IS/8. Consolidated Bricks were quoted 9/5 and 9/8. Wilsons Cements had inquiries at £1 1/0, and in the mining Waihis were fractionally easier, and there was a reduced limit in buyers' quotes' for Marthas.

INTEREST BATES.
The return to the investor on his outlay, based upon the latest dividends, works out as follows on thg latest sales. When Government stocks are included, the calculation provides for redemption at maturity. When payment is made in sterling, exchange is added. In the case of local body issues allowance is also made for 20 per cent interest reduction:— PEK CENT PER ANNUM.
