THREE YEARS' GAOL.

INDECENCY OFFENCES. MAERIED MAN SENTENCED. Found guilty a.t the recent criminal session in Auckland on counts of indecent assault against three young girls, Seymour Blair, a married man, aged 46, came before Mr. Justice Fair for sentence this morning. Mr. Henry, who appeared for the prisoner, said he was a hard-working man, a carpenter by trade, who assisted his wife with a shop. Counsel added that although the law was "designed to protect young girls, consideration should be. given to the character of the three girls concerned. A high degree of precociousness had been exhibited by them. His Honor said that in considering sentence he had to accept the position that the jury had found as proved the allegations against the prisoner. Those facts showed that the prisoner committed offences against two girls on one occasion and against one on another. The offences were of a very grave nature, and committed under circumstances which called for a substantial sentence. His Honor imposed a sentence of three years' imprisonment.
