TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. G, J. COLES RISE SHARPLY. IMPROVEMENT IN MOUNT LYELLS. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. An exceptionally heavy demand for G. J. Coles' shares was liie feature of an active Exchange market this morning. Coles shot up sharply by 2/0, losing 3d of that advance later, but finishing with business in G2O shares and on a very firm basis, buyers £1 4/9 and sellers Id above. Another rising stock was Mount Lyells which, at £1 9/G, were 2d higher than last week. The banking section was dull, sellers of New Zealands reducing their limits to £1 19/8. Kaia poi Woollens were steady, contributings selling at 6/7, other classes remaining at last week's closing rates. The brewery section was slack, but Dominions, which have been rising steadily during recent months, had strong buyers at £19/4 and sellers 3d away. In the miscellaneous division values were generally firm for Australians but easier for New Zealands. For Cements limits were closer together, at buyers £1 IS/3 and sellers £1 19/9. Dominion Builders; Supplies were uncertain, with sellers at 5/, compared with recent local sales at 5/11. Beath's had unsupported sellers at £l 4/.
