CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. & Y.M. DEFEAT UNIVERSITY. GRAMMAR'S BIG WIN OYER SOMERYILLE. The hockey championship matches were continued 'on Saturday, play being of a fast order throughout. -The results leave Grammar 0,1(1 Boys still in the lead with a narrow margin. At Papatoetoe, Grammar Old Boys brought oft the surprise of the season by defeating.Somervule by the big score of 10 goals to nil. After an even opening Papatoetoe faded away against St. Luke's and left the field defeated by 6 goals to 3. ■ : At Remuera Y.M.C.A. brought off a big surprise by defeating University by 2 goals to nil. Mount Eden, in a rugged game with Training College, scored a victory; by 5 goals to nil.

ST. LUKE'S V. PAPATOETOE.

Papatoetoe got the best of the bully, hut a knock-on by Torbett broke the movement and from the free hit St. Luke's advanced. A short attack ended in Grace scoring. St. Luke's I,'- Papatoetoe 0. Another attack was frustrated by Cox anil play returned to midtield. Chapman secured and raced for the circle, but Wattam came out and kicked clear. .Close piny on the line ended in Edney beating the opposition and centring to Chapman for the right wing to net from well out. Y.M.C.A. V. UNIVERSITY.

Play opened with University attacking, A. Broun shooting wide. Three times Cooper pierced the defence, but dallying with his shot he allowed the opposition to clear. R. Tasker initiated a counter attack with a nice effort, his centre crossing the goalmouth unaccepted. University quickly changed the scene, but over-eagerness in the circle found Roberts ruled offside. University had their opponents hardpressed, Ireland several hot shots nicely. Y.M.C.A. set up a short-lived attack down the centre, Brown finding the net with a stinging shot, only to be ruled offside. University gradually worked their way down the left flank, but hard hitting sent the ball over the line. Universitv continued to press, but the defence held. A sortie to the blues' circle resulted in an unsuccessful corner, half-time sounding shortly after, with play in neutral territory, and no score on the board. On changing ends 'Varsity were first away, Neate repulsing the invaders. A serifes of corners saw Y.M.C.A. defending stubbornly until Beere collected from a free hit and reachetj the students' quarter, only to over-run the ball and lose possession. Again Y.M.C.A. pierced the defence, and with only the goalie to bent Kiff missed a Sitter. Persisting with their attack, they again reached the circle, where C. Y.M.C.A. were playing with great dash, 'Varsity replying with an attack which tested their opponents' defence, but proved fruitless. From a big hit Kiff raced goalwards, Henderson taking the shot on his pads and R. Tasker shooting wide from the rebound. 'Varsity made valiant efforts to equalise, But Y.M.C.A. raced away' from a clearing hit, R. Tasker sending across a nice . centre which Beere pushed into the corner of the net.
