AUCKLAND CLUB. The Auckland Amateur Athletic Club held their winter meeting on the Ellerslie racecourse on Saturday, as so many of the club's members were competing in the Auckland cross-country 10,000 metres event, the club's representative, J. W. Savidan, winning the race and the club's members the team event. Results:— 75 Yards.—First heat: Cassells 1, Taylor 2,* Sutton 3. Time, 8 l-ss. Second heat: Prendergast 1, Sharp 2, Francis 3. Bryan (39ft), 100 ft 4in, 3. V OSTEND BEATS SURFDALE. At: TVaiheke Island on Saturday football and basketball matches were played between the Surftlale and Ostend schools' teaihs. A silver cup, presented by the Herbert' Smith Trust Fund,! has in previous years ; been held by Surfdale. The cup went to Oetentl for the 'first time. ; The Itugby match was won by petend by 25 points to 18, while the basketball result was: Surfdale 19, Ostend 16.
