AUCKLAND CLUB. The Auckland Amateur Athletic Club held their winter meeting on the Ellerslie racecourse on Saturday, as so many of the club's members were competing in the Auckland cross-country 10,000 metres event, the club's representative, J. W. Savidan, winning the race and the club's members the team event. Results:— 75 Yards.—First heat: Cassells 1, Taylor 2,* Sutton 3. Time, 8 l-ss. Second heat: Prendergast 1, Sharp 2, Francis 3. Time, S 2-ss. Third heat: Clegg and Jones, dead-heat, 1, Taylor 3. Time, 8 1-SS. Final: V. R. Jones, 51yds, 1; C. P. Clegg, 4Jyas, 2; C. H. Taylor, 4Jyds, 3. Time, Bs. Putting the Shot.—L. A. S. Taylor (10ft), 35ft lOin, 1; K. E. Holland (loft), 35ft 2Jin, 2; F. J. Brogan (10ft 6in), 35ft lin, 3. Throwing the Discus.—V. R. Jones (43ft), 112 ft lin, 1; J. H. Smith (40ft), 109 ft 4in, 2; F. J. Bryan (39ft), 100 ft 4in, 3. V OSTEND BEATS SURFDALE. At: TVaiheke Island on Saturday football and basketball matches were played between the Surftlale and Ostend schools' teaihs. A silver cup, presented by the Herbert' Smith Trust Fund,! has in previous years ; been held by Surfdale. The cup went to Oetentl for the 'first time. ; The Itugby match was won by petend by 25 points to 18, while the basketball result was: Surfdale 19, Ostend 16.
