"DISGRACEFUL AFFAIR."
SEAMAN SENT TO GAOL,
"This seems to -have been a rather disgraceful • business for all parties concerned," said Mr. Wyvein Wilson, S.M., in the Police Court to-day, when he fined a seaman, John Joseph Corby, aged 30, £2, in default seven days' imprisonment, o.i a charge of assaulting Katlierine Eltiste yesterday.
Corby, a seaman belonging to the crew of the Kaikorai, who missed his ship, which sailed for Newcastle last night, also pleaded guilty to a further charge pf using obscene' language. Ho was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment on the charge of using obscene language.
