RUGBY, August 14, Although the closing date for entries for the England-Johannesburg air race is, still three weeks off, there are 13 competitors to date. At least one entry is an entirely new type of commercial aeroplane which will make its first appearance in the race. The event carries four prizes aggregating .£IO,OOO, and the sum has been donated by South African industrialists. Only British pilots and British aircraft may compete in the racc, which is scheduled to start on the evening of September 29. No time allowance will be made for refuelling or other ground work.
