ON THE COAST OF DALMATIA. —King Edward's holiday cruise along the Dalmatian coast has brought into prominence one of the most beautiful but least-known coasts of Europe. (1) Split (or SpalatoJ, once the site of a palace of Diocletian, and now the chief Yugoslav port. (2) Hvar, a popular winter resort. (3) Part of the land defences of the ancient city-republic of Ragusa. (4) Ragusa (now called Dubrovnik), the historic port which has been called the "Queen City of the Southern Adriatic " (5) A scene in Kotor (or Cattaro) harbour, at the foot of the mountains of Montenegro. —Photographs hp courtesy E.
