SWIMMING.
HEADQUARTERS CHANGE.
AUCKLAND IN SYMPATHY.
An apology for the non-attendance of its delegates at a special meeting of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association 011 July 6 was received from the Mount lf<den Club by the centre's management committee at its meeting yesterday. The special meeting was convened to hear the Mount Eden Club's protest against the centre's going into recess, but was dismissed on account of the failure of the club's delegates to be present to explain their views. The club assured the management committee that it did not wish to impede the working of the centre, which would have full support on matters pertaining to its welfare that the club considered an advancement' to the- sport in Auckland. Nevertheless, the club still adhered to its previous decision. It had also accepte 1 the excuse of the delegates, Messrs. R. M. Sheffield and J. Foy. for their absence. Tlie transfer of the Dominion tration of the sport from Christchurch was advocated in a circular letter from the Otago Centre, which sought the Auckland Centre's backing of the scheme. Ihe Otago Centre advised that it had given notice to move at . the annual meeting, ot the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association that the headquarters be shifted from Christchurch. Th-e opinion of the Otago Centre was that a change in the Dominion administration would prove beneficial, and that more could be done than at present to further the interests and development of the sport. The management committee decided to inform "the Otago Centre that its suggestion had been received very favouiably and would be referred to the next general meeting of the centre, with a view _to having a remit submitted to the centre s annual meeting on October 1.
