LAWN TENNIS.
HERNE BAY CLUB.
The report presented at the annual meeting of the Heme Hay Lawn Tennis Club reviewed a cnost successful season. The president, Mr. E. E. Kitchener, presided. The report stated that- 'great progress had been made in laying down four hard courts in addition to the five grass courts already set down, and in the erection of a two-storeyed pavilion by voluntary labour of the members. With a membership of 156 at the close of the first season, the club had become well established. Under the name of Y.M.C.A. the club had been ill existence for 25 years, the occasion being marked at the opening of the new club with a week of celebrations. Teams were entered in inter-club competition •In second, third and fourth grades, but, although not successful in winning a grade, the club won the Fortune Cup for competition among clubs in the: district. The balance-sliwt showed the club to be in a satisfactory financial position. The election of officers resulted as fol10WB : —-Patron, Mr. J. McCoskrie ; president, Mr,"' E. E. Mathers, Mrs. A. S. Cox, Messrs. H. Ledger, B. Herbert, A. Bassett; honorary solicitor, -L. B. Hayncs; honorary auditor, J. E. Connor.
