MOUNT EDEN METHODISTS.

The monthly meeting of the Mount Eden Methodist Men's Fraternal was held in the Gordon Road Hall on Thursday. The president, Mr. Vernon Brooks, presided and extended a cordial welcome to the ladies of the church, who, on tins occasion, were the guests of the men The speaker of the evening was Mr. J. E. Astley, recently returned from a trip abroad, who gave an extremely interesting and informative entitled "From Damascus to Jerusalem." . Ten minutes' community singing under the leadership of Mr. H. Pausey was enjoyed bv all, and an excellent elocutionary and musical programme was contributed by Miss Birch, Mrs. Rothery and Captain Lee. . Mr. Eric Clarke made a very efficient accompanist. During the evening the president announced that the men had accepted a challenge from the ladies of the congregation to compete against them in the special effort now being organised in aid of the trust funds, culminating in a bazaar and sale of work on October 1.
