MEN'S SOCIAL CLUB.
The third concert for the season to be held under the auspices of the Men's Social Club, New Zealand Institute for the Blind, was held this week. An excellent programme, arranged by Mr. Clarke, was thoroughly enjoyed by members of the club and their friends. A feature of the evening was the excellent supper dispensed iln the dining room at Pearson House during the interval. Mr. J. Egan, president of the club, officiated as chairman.
The programme was as follows:—Pianoforte solo, by Mr. Trevor Sparling; vocal solos, by Misses L. Walker and E. Hawkins and Messrs. A. Austin and Guise; humorous monologues and elocution, by Messrs. Allan MacEhvain and Stan McKnight; vocal and instrumental numbers, by the Mounce Sisters: ventriloquial numbers, by Miss Daphne Kindly; cornet solos, by Mr. Allan Morton. Mr. Trevor Sparling and Mr. J. Papesch officiated as accompanists. Prior to the concluding number Mr. Egan thanked Mr. Clarke for organising and arranging the programme, and paid a tribute to the artists. Mr. Egan also thanked the members of the staff and voluntary helpers for assistance rendered in the detail work. Mr. S. Donaldson, Mayor of Newmarket, on behalf of the visitors, thanked the chairman and committee for the entertainment.
