GOODWILL LECTURE TOUR.

UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON.

The growth of international understanding and goodwill is the object of Messrs. Kenji Ito, LL.B., and William Botzer, 8.A., both graduates of the University of Washington, Seattle, who arrived by the Mariposa this morning in the course of a lecture and debating tour of Hawaii, Australia, Japan, China and the Philippine Islands. The debaters had no opportunity of debating in this city owing to the shortness of their stay here, but this'morning they were guests of the Auckland Travel Club at morning tea. Representatives of the Auckland University College Students' Association and the registrar of the college, Mr. M. R. O'Shea, were present.

The two debaters bear the highest credentials from the Governor of the State of Washington, the Supreme Court of that State, and the university. Mr. Ito, who is. a Japanese student, is a practising barrister, and Mr. Botzer is also a law student. P/oth have distinguished forensic careers in university circles in the United States. Mr. Botzer has recently been engaged in radio work as announcer for stations KOMO and KJR of the National Broadcasting Company of America.

The two students will combine their lecture work with a close study of the economic, social and political conditions of the countries to be visited, and on their return to the United States will undertake a further lecture tour there, giving the results of their studies.
