beautifying society.
The report and balance-sheet presented by the retiring chairman, Mr. N. Hawkins, at the second annual meeting of the Titirangi Beautifying Society showed that the society had accomplished much good work during the year, and that the finances were in a very satisfactory state. Considerable tree planting had been carried out, particularly bordering the main road at the entrance to Titirangi. The objects of the society were to beautify the district and preserve the bush. Votes of thanks and appreciation of the services of the chairman, Mr. N. Hawkins, the secretary, Mr. Bailey, and the treasurer, Mrs. Austin, all of whom retired from office, were passed, klso a vote of thanks to all who had donated trees and shrubs. The following were elected to hold office for the ensuing season: Chairman, Mr. H. W. Lewis; committee, Messrs. A. P. Young, H. I. Selby, R. Shaw, W. A. Bishop; Women's Institute delegate, ■Mrs. J. W. Holt. Resolutions of condolence with tlie relatives of the late Messrs. J. J. Bishop and J. V. Booth, two well-known residents of the district, were passed.
