OAMARU, Thursday. ] The Oamaru Borough Council to-day-celebrated its seventieth anniversary.' The town was proclaimed a borough on April 3, *860. The f.rst council meeting was held 011 August 6, iB6O. It is the third old-'St municipa'ity in the Dominion, its* predecessors 1 eing Dunedin and Queensto wn. There were no special celebrations of the anniversary in view of the coming Dominion centennial, but the council entertained past mayors and members and prominent jnen. r,t dinner to-nighi.j
