DAViS CUP MATCHES.
'VARSITY MEETS ST. LUKE'S.
SOMERVILLE V. PAPATOETOE,
To-morrow the Auckland Hockey Association will revert to the championship matches for the Davis Cup and some interesting matches should be witnessed. Grammar are leading with 18 points and St. Luke's are in second place, three points ahead of University, who are level with Papatoetoe. In the principal game at Papatoetoe University will try conclusions with St. Luke's and this should provide a stirring contest from start to finish. Although St. Luke's will be without the services of T. Clark, who is on the injured list after his retirement from last week's New Zealand Shield match, 'Varsity will probably have to field a substitute in the forwards, as H. Lawry is not likely to turn out owing to a leg injury sustained several weeks ago. This should even things up to a certain extent, and as both sides are capable of giving a fast and open display the result ia hard to estimate. On the No. 2 ground at Papatoetoe the local eleven should have a stubborn ngUt with Somerville, and here again spectators should be treated to some exejwng hockey. Both games are scheduled to start at 2.30. , . At Remuera two games will be P la s®, on No. 2 ground, the three o clock matctt being between Mount Eden and Y.M.W*. The Mount Edenite6 have been showing greatly improved form lately and w " out to collect the extra points, wnH Y.M.C.A. are likely to put up a stubborn fight for the honours. ...
