STEEPLES AND HURDLER. i S* THE WINTER CUP. I LIST OF' ACCEPTORS. I (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. Final payments for the Grand National Steeplechase and the Winter Cup, and acceptances for all other events on the first day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting, to be held at Riccarton on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday of next week, were declared this evening. Final payments for the Grand National Hurdles, to be run on the second day, also fell due. The response from owners was good. Eight horses remain in the Grand National Steeplechase and 18 in the Winter Cup. The Grand National Hurdles has attracted a field of Id. Only three. Tliurina, Battleground and Dunniure. failed to remain in the Grand National Steeplechase, but tile two histnamed are engaged in other events during the dav, Tliurina being topweight, in the Enfield while Battleground figures in the Trial Hurdles. In the Giand National Hurdles Saltspray, Havering, Look Smart and Battleground are the onlv defections, while in the W intel Cup Mother Superior (\»lio was withdrawn earlier in the week). Bay Duke, Tra\enna, Great Star and Mustang are the only ones missing. It was stated since the first acceptance that Epris, who was a w ellfancied candidate for this event, had gone amiss, but evidently he has recovered, lor lie has been paid up for. Acceptances: —
