PEARLERS' FATE.
DEATH OF TWO JAPANESE. (Received 11 a.m.) DARWIN, this day. Sailors of the pearling fleet which has returned to Darwin, report the disappearance of two Japanese divers.- They were wearing only a helmet, corselet and flannels, and were being towed along the sea bed in 22 fathoms when the accident occurred. The divers signalled that they were about to gather shell. There were no further signals from them and when the life lines were hauled in the tenders found only the ..helmets and corselets. Pearlers believe the divers had taken off their helmets to gather shell and that the boat drifted away too quickly, taking the helmets beyond the reach of the stranded divers.
