WRESTLING.
THE BLOMFIELD-WOODS MATCH
Two popular favourites will be placed before the Auckland wrestling public on Saturday night, when "Lofty" Blomfield (Auckland) will meet Joe Kopach Woods at the Town Hall. Blomfield won his "way to favour last season when New Zealaiulers, proud of his prowess, in large numbers to see his matches. This was not only because of the increasingly large percentage of wins scored by the Aucklander, but also because of the quality of his displays. He exhibited the necessary wrestling skill to enable him to out-manoeuvre most of the men placed in the ring against him, and also introduced some variations of his own which made him a sensational attraction. There are certainly few wrestlers who can beat Blomfielcf back when it comes to elbow jolting, but one who has shown that he can do so is Joe Woods, ex-pugilist from Chicago. Woods has shown that he can take without flinching whatever is handed out to him, but he also "packs a hefty wallop," as many of his opponents have found to their cost. He is something of a pocket battleship, being comparatively small as wrestlers go, but, in stance, timing, and everything else that goes to make an elbow jolt most effective, he is a boxing stylist, as he showed wliea he made short work of Boescli in the local ring.
