Grey Campbell presiding, a motion of condolence to the vice-chairman and R trustee, Mr, E. J. Phelan, in the death of Mrs. Phelan, was passed in the usual manner. Folllowing on earlier application, it was decided to stage the championship fixture —on 22nd inst. —between Ponsonby and Newton, at Northcote. The chairman drew attention to the sportsman's dinner on Saturday night being tendered by the Mayor of Auckland, Mr. Ernest Davis. Executive representatives of all sports had been invited, and the English team would be guests, together with members of Parliament. It was decided to submit to council, as curtain-raisers for the second Test, an early ma.tch 'between Ngaruawa'hia, South Auckland junior champions, and City third grade (12.30 p.m.), and a contest between the Ellerslie and Manukan third grade teams. Mr. Wilkie mentioned that t::e Ngaruawahia team had a very fir.2 record. In reply to a further letter from City Rovers in connection with the broadcasting of the Test matches it was decided that, in view of the decision of the New Zealand Council, the board could not now recommend action. Registration.—J. Brodrick to Manukau. H. Tetley (Richmond), A. Gault (Manukau), A. Halloran (Ponsonby) and E. Mincham (Richmond) have been selected to train as reserves witli the New Zealand team preparing for the first Test match against England on Saturday. No replacements will be permitted during the actual game, but in view of the very solid training operations, reserves are required to be on hand so that replacement caused by accident or indisposition to any of the first string may be filled by fully-trained reserves familiar with the team s tactics.
