TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. LESS LIFE IN MARKETS. BANK OF NEW ZEALAND BETTER. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The miscellaneous scction was more active on Exchange this morning, hut markets still showed less lite than usual. Values eased for a number of issues. Consolidated Bricks ami Coles, however, Were exceptions. Both moved up a few points. A sale of Government 1955 stock brought a reduction of 7/0, to £.105. More buyers offered that figure, sellers £105 5/. The banking section was again dull. Commercials, ex dividend, were tjuoted between 17/10 and 18/2. Nationals Oi New Zealand seemed a fraction better, with buyers at £3 3/ and no sellers. New Zeaiands were wanted at £2 0/4, sellers 3d away. New Zealand Breweries confirmed recent casing rates, with sales down 1/6, to £2 12/. and more wanted, sellers asking £2 12/3. Variable values marked miscellaneous issues. Broken Hill eontributings lost 3d, and fully paids were for sale at £3 12/, buyer £3 11/3. Morts Docks at 11/4 were 3d lower than previous business last week. Consolidated Bricks moved up 2d, and Coles were firmer at £3 10/, with more sellers at the same price. Kauri Timber continued to command good support, the market closing between £1 4/6 and £1 4/10. In mining, Lyells were wanted at £1 7/4. Morgans recovered to a market from 14/ to 14/3, with no sales.
