BUSINESS RATHER QUIET. BANK OF NEW ZEALAND LOWER. BUYERS AT NOON 3S/6. Within the Inst 24 hours business on the Auckland Stock Exchange lias been rather quiet. The reaction to the Budget has been to restrict sales in the meantime, and there is much less support from Australian issues. At this morning's call an easier tone was noted in Bank of New Zealand shares, which sold (id lower, at £2. Buyers then dropped out, leaving unsupported sellers at £2 0/3. Commercials were auoted ex dividend, from 17/10 to IS/3. Nationals, too, were easier, with buyers at £3 3/ and sellers only 3d higher. An inquiry came in for Commercial of Sydney at £20. The insurance sccnon looked a shade better, with buyers for New Zeaiands at £3 1/6 and for South British at £4 10/3, a 3d advance in each case.

Australians showed further easing. Dunlops were available at 18/4, with no buyers, and Broken Hills were quoted between £3 11/10 and £3 12/. Sellers of Mount Lyells dropped their limits 2d, to £1 7/7, and Morgans were easier between 14/ and 14/2. An exception to the general trend was furnished by G. J. Coles, which responded to the announcement of increased profits, with further business at £3 18/6 and a subsequent market between £3 18/9 and £3 19/3.

In local issues, Milne and Choyce debenture stock was ottered 6d lower, at 15/, and a buyer came in at 14/. Buyers for Cements dropped their otters 3d, to £1 19/. Government stocks showed little change. Forty's, both stocks and bonds, were available at £101 10/, and a parcel of 3%'s, '41-'52, was quoted between £102 15/ and £103 10/. Values Trend Downwards. New Zealand shares in all classes were still dull at noon, and the few sales recorded indicated lower values. South British lost 3d, but at the reduced figure were still asked for. Consolidated Brick lost 2d, but had further buyers at the new rate. In Woolworths (N.Z.) there was a sharp drop of 5/, with closing otters of £5 4/. Among the banks buyers came in for New Zeaiands at £1 18/6, while holders remained at the morning rate. For Farmers' Trading there were inquiries at IS/8.
