DRAMATIC CLUBS.
MISS A. PARKER FAREWELLED,
4. farewell afternoon tea was given by Mrs. Geoffrey Fisher, president of the Diocesan Old Girls' Association, at her home in Remuera Road, yesterday afternoon, in houour of Miss Althea Parker, who is leaving- on Friday for England. This association opened a benefit fund for Miss Parker for the purpose of enabling her to have a course of training at the Royal Academy. The fund lias received substantial support from the dramatic societies of Auckland. During the afternoon a cheque representing the result of the. fund was presented to Miss Parker 'by Miss E. Edwards, headmistress of the Diocesan High School, on behalf of the contributing societies, and in wishing Miss Parker every success 'in the future, Miss Edwards remarked that the guest of houour would be sadly missed, not only in school entertainments, but in other fields of dramatic work in the city. i
Representatives from the various societies present were Mrs. Fislier, Miss Edwards and Miss Jean Wilson (Diocesan High School and Old Girls' Association), Mrs. L. Leary (Little Theatre Society), Miss T. Clerk (Lyceum Club), Mips J. Edwards (Diocesan Old Girls' Dramatic Circle and "As You Like It" Club), Mrs. Latter (Georgian Readers), Mrs. 11. Geddes (Wineliendon Players), Miss M. Earle (Drama League), Mrs. A. J. C. Fislier and Mrs. J. Swan (cast of "Woven Wind"). Apologies were received from the Amateur Operatic Society, the Catholic Repertory Society and the Grafton Shakespeare and Dramatic Society. A presentation of a parcel of books was made to Miss Parker by Miss J. Edwards on behalf of the "As You Like it" Club.
