LIFE-SAVING.
AUCKLAND HEAD CENTRE. Good progress throughout the. year is shown in the report to be presented at the annual general meeting of the Auckland Head Centre of the Royal LifeSaving Society on Monday night. During the past year proficiency awards of various types totalled 840, an increase of 109 on the previous year. Hamilton High School won 104 of these awards, 80 went to the Auckland Girls' Grammar School and 66 to the Epsom Gills' Grammar School. Mention is also made of the interest shown in the work of the society by the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, who has assisted wherever it has been possible. As the result of a street collection in September the society receive'' £46 and, although this was of great assistance, more money is needed. Permission has heen granted to hold an art union and advantage will be taken of this nearer the summer. - • ■
