BIG KAURI LOG.
LORRY'S HEAVY LOAD. BROUGHT OVER FROM PIHA. TIMBER FOR RACING YACHT. One of the biggest kauri logs to be brought overland to Auckland arrived at the mill of the Leyland-O'Brien Timber Company last night and was lowered into the water this morning. The log, which was brought from Pilia on a lorry, is 32ft long and has a girth of 10ft. It contains (iOOO superficial feet of timber, and is to be cut into boat 1 boards to build a racing yacht for Messrs. Newcomb Bros., of Auckland. A bigger kauri is beinjr felled at Hunua, and powder will be used to blast it into four pieces.
