RECORD CATCH.

FISH BY THE TON. BUSY BEE'S SPLENDID HAUL PROFITABLE " EAST TRY." "About £50 or £00 worth," said Mr. V. Gilich, owner of the fishing boat Busy Bee, as he ran an expert eye over a record catch brought in by his boat yesterday. "Not bad for three days' work." He pointed out that expenses were high, however, and that the actual gain would not be as large as £50. The Busy Bee went out on Saturday and

completed a successful trip by landing three tons of fish in a haul between Cape Rodney and the Little Barrier yesterday morning. > Over Sunday and Monday the owner and his crew of two managed to land about four tons of fish. Before returning to 'Auckland it was decided to draw the nets once more, and the result was the splendid haul of three tons, which was landed in bitterly cold weather. Snapper predominated, but there was also a goodly quantity of John Dory and kingfisli. The proceeds from the good haul made by the Busy Bee will be particularly welcome to her owner, as at the present time big catches are the exception rather than the rule. The launch is only a small boat and the catch of 130 baskets of fish is a record for a launch of her type. When the launch arrived her holds were packed tight with ice and fish, and it had been found necessary to pack the overflow among the gear on deck.
