GRAND NATIONAL.

SEVERAL HORSES SCHOOL,

DIAMOND ALL THE WAY. POLYDORA'S DASHING DISPLAY. J (By Telegraph.—Special to ""Star.'') I CHRISTCHURCH, this day. | Weather conditions at Ricearton this . morning were much milder and the tracks l had dried considerably. | Diamond (R. K. Smith), Manawatu (A. . W. McDonald), Palm (G. Ridgway), Royal Limond (R. Beale), Tliurina IVV. J. Bowdenj and l'uncliestown (.H. Turner) j attracted a lot of attention when they '.vent out for a round of the Grand National course. Starting at the ninefurlong barrier Diamond led out from Manawatu, l'uncliestown and Royal -Limond, with the other pail- several lengths back. Diamond was clear of Royal Limond, l'uncliestown and Manawatu at the Kennel's double, with not much between the last named three. After jumping the brush near the carriage paddock, Royal Limond went after the leader, while I'aliu drew away from Tliurina. At Cutts' Diamond was out several lengths in. front of Royal Limond, with l'uncliestown and Manawatu next, and I'ahu making up ground, but lie hit the fence hard, blundering 011 to his knees. This was the only serious mistake to mar a fine piece of schooling. Diamond, who was in front all the way. made friends by his faultless display and Royal Limond also jumped exceptionally well and was staying on in hue style, l'unchestown gave one of his usual safe displays, but Manawatu, though safe, got h l j in the air a bit. l'ahu seemed to be going well up to the fence at which he came to grief. Thurina's fencing was as high class as usual, and probably he was not seriously bustled to go with his mates over the last part of the journey. G. Ridgway, rider of I'aliu, landed 011 the back of lus head and his right shoulder. He was carried in on a stretcher, but on examination it was found he was not seriously injured, being able to walk off the course later.

Jolly Beggar (R. Bealej, Streamline (H. Turner) and Havering (X. Trillo) starting at the top of the straight, went at a solid pace over a circuit, when Havering was eased up, leaving the other pair to continue over two more flights, with nothing between them as the.v rose to the sixth hurdle. It was a good exhibition of jumping. Battleground (S. Wright) went off about a furlong behind the other three horses and jumped six hurdles in very attractive style. Polydora gave a dashing display over six hurdles, with a sound pace all the way. MOTHER SUPERIOR SCRATCHED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTC'HURCH, this day. Mother' Superior was scratched for all engagements at 9 o'clock this morning. Forest Glow, Clarion Call, Kaokaoroa and Tail Light arrived from the north.
