LADIES' ASSOCIATION.
FIJI V. AUCKLAND.
TARANAKI HERE AUGUST 29.
At this week's meeting of the Auckland Ladies' Hockey Association, Miss P. H. Dawson presided over a representative meeting consisting of executive members and delegates representing Paeroa, Piako and Waipa.
It was reported that arrangements were well in hand for the big game, Fiji v. Auckland province, at Eden Park on August 15. It was decided to entertain the visitors, also members of the Auckland team, at dinner on the Saturday night, a scenic drive on the Sunday and pictures on the Monday night.
I he I' ijian players will be accommodated in the new flat recently added to the Y.W.C.A., while they are ip Auckland. Taranaki representative team will be in Auckland on August 29.
Arrangements are well in hand for the sending of an Auckland provincial team to Blenheim for the New Zealand touriie}'.
_ Miss E. Jeft'ery was elected the association s representative to meetings in connection with proposed Y.W.C.A. pageant in September.
It was decided to make special endeavours to bring about the continuance of the special training classes l'or players held weekly since the beginning of the season under the tuition of Mr. and Mrs. K. Hamlin.
Mrs. R. Hamlin and Misses E. Jeffery and M. Kossiter applied to be examined for their practical umpires' examination, and it was decided that these candidates bo tested on August 8.
