STAKES INCREASED.
AUCKLAND RACING CLUB. CUP UP TO £1750. The committee of the Auckland Racing Club has decided to raise their stakes for the season and £1925 has been added. Hack races under £300 have been raised to that amount and open events under £350 have been increased to that figure. At the spring meeting the total increase is £400, the summer meeting £1025, the autumn meeting £225 and the winter meeting £275. At the summer fixture the Auckland Cup has been raised to £1750 (an increase of £250), the Queen's Plate to £350. the Clifford Plate to £400 ai\d the Bowcn Handicap (the open sprint on the last day) to £450. If conditions warrant it the club may further increase the prize money, which is well in excess of what has to be given under the rules of racing.
