TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. market more confident. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Budget revelations were greeted with a measure of relief in Stock Exchange circles this morning, the concensus of opinion being that the taxation increases were considerably less heavy than had been feared. The call was quiet, as had been the case all this week, but values wcie firm and the markets generally seemed buoyant. The main features included a rise in the price of Bank of Zealand shares and Mount Lyells, while, on the other hand. Brol.Sn Hills continued to decline, and Mount Morgans slipped badly to business at 13/9. The . Government and banking sections showed little alteration, New Zealands bringing £2 0/6, with further buyers at that figure and sellers at £2 0/8. Cliiistehurch Gas were firm, with final quotations from £1 10/ to £1 10/6. Xew Zealand Breweries, however, seemed uncertain again, with sellers at £2 13/ and buyers 1/ below. In the miscellaneous issues Beatlrs were in good request. A buyer for Wilsons Cements raised bidding to £1 19/3, and sellers were still at £2. Interest died away in Procera Breads, with quotations very wide, from buyers 10/ to sellers £1 10/. Broken Hills, at £3 12/, were down by 1/1. Electrolytic Zinc preferences faded a little, with sellers at £2 2/6. Kauri Timbers improved on buying offers to £1 4/4 and sellers £1 4/9.
