OUT OF FAVOUR.
GROWING OF WHEAT. The special protection afforded the Southern wheat-grower lias apparently failed to popularise the growing of this cereal. According to the "Otago Daily Times":—"lt is considered that all the surplus wheat on hand at present will lie required, as next season's crop area willshow a fair reduction. As a matter of fact, there is a noticeable tendency on the part of some farmers to eliminate the glowing of wheat altogether, as distinct from the movement to reduce their cropping areas."
