DEAR ONIONS.
AUSTRALIAN PRICES. Onions reached their highest price since 1032 on the Melbourne wholesale market on July 21. Most of the sales were made at £13 a ton, which is 15/ a ton more than the previous record price for the year. Later in the day, however, several lots were sold at £13 10/ a ton. A few days later the Sydney wholesale price was £16 a ton. In Auckland, the present wholesale price . of onions is from 17/6 to 18/6 per ewt, but these are for new season's from Japan and California.
