BUSINESS IS FAIR. GOVERNMENTS STOCKS OFFERING. There was no noticeable reaction to the Budget announcement at the first call of the Auckland Stock Exchange, unless it was the release of a few parcels of Government stocks and bonds. The banking and insurance sections were quiet at late rates. Bank of New Zealand shares were still available at last sale price, £2 0/0, with best buyers stopping at £2 0/1. Australian issues lacked strength. Glass failed to hold yesterday's rise, being on offer at the last sale price, £4 11/3, with best buyers stopping at £4 10/0. Broken Hills were steady between £3 11/0 and £3 12/3, while buyers and sellers of Coles dropped their reserves 6d, with a market between £3 17/ and £3 IS/. Goldsbroughs were quoted from £1 11/3 to £1 12/3. Amongst local issues Sanfords continued firm. Quotations for the ordinary shares were from 4/ to '4/6, and for the preferences 18/6 to 10/6. Theatre Arcades, which are not often asked for, had a buyer at IS/6, but no seller. Union Oils were in demand at £ 1 10/, and Whittome, Stevensons at £1 19/9. In the mining section Mount Morgans eased with sellers at last sale price, 14/3, and best buyers 13/5. In Government stocks there was a sale of '40's 2/6 higher, at £101 7/6, with more available at that figure. Bonds, in the '46, '49 and '55 issues, were all available at £106. Gas Shares Lower. At the noon call there was small business and few important market changes. Sellers of bonds offered in the looming dropped their limits to £100 10/, and buyers moved up to £105 5/. Holders dropped their limits for Bank of Australasia to £11 18/6 and for Nationals to £3 ( 4/9, while buyers for Bank of New Zealand shares moved up to £2 0/3. Auckland Gas shares continued the recent easing tendency, and changed hands 3d lower, at £1 4/3. Buyers raised their limits for Kauris to £1 4/6, New Zealand Breweries were offered at £2 13/, and a buyer came in at £2 11/6.
