PRICE STATEMENT.

DAIRY PRODUCE.

BUDGET WORK INTERVENES. PROBABLY .TUESDAY NEXT. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Although an official announcement of the guaranteed prices for dairy products as fixed by the Government is imminent, Budget preparations have had to take precedence owing to the necessity for printing this document in time to make it available when the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, reads it to the House of Representatives on Tiiesday night.

The guarantee statement is naturally not the mere announcement of a figure, but has to be accompanied by important explanations, including its bearing on local prices of dairy produce.

This statement lias apparently not be«n finalised because the Prime Minister, llr. Savage, when interviewed at the close of a Cabinet meeting this afternoon, remarked that he could definitely sav that the guaranteed prices could not be announced to-dav.

The Prime Minister declined to amplify this statement, and it is now assumed that the announcement may be delayed until the presentation of the Budget. The Minister of Marketing, Mr. Nash, was also approached this afternoon with a request for a statement. While lie admitted that the actual prices had been fixed he assured the questioner that he was iict in a position to disclose them. "You can rest assured," he added, "that the farmers will know as soon as they are in a position to deliver their produce. They can scarcely do that before next Wednesday."
