AUDACIOUS BANDITS.
WOMAN CHASES THIEVES. Broken glass littered the pavement in Victoria Parade, Torquay, and a jeweller, revolver in hand, stood at the door of his looted shop and gazed at a carload of bandits speeding- into the distance. A £3000 jewel raid was over. Four men took part. Five minutes sufficed to complete their work. Hundreds of holiday-makers watched, too startled to interfere before it was, too late. The car drew up alongside the shop of Nottingham and Walsh. The driver remained in his seat and kept, the engine running. Three men jumped out. Two smashed the shop window with hammers, grabbed trays of diamond rings, watches and other jewels. The third stood at their side, brandishing a billhook to discourage interference. Then the three jumped back into the car and were away. Manager Craig Nichols raced for liis revolver. By the time he got back it was too late. A woman holiday-maker gave chase in her own car, but failed to keep Tip with the thieves. The number of the Co.. was noted. It had been stolen frcm Plymouth the ' light previously.
