SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS

GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) TIMARU, Friday. The Grand National ski meeting at Mount Cook commenced to-day in perfect weather, the snow eonditons being ideal. The weather changed in the afternoon, however, and the programme had to be altered. The only events contested were the men's and women's slalom championships and the novice events. Results:— Men's Slalom.—C. Stranbel (Christchurch Ski Club), 42 l-5s and 42 l-ss; B. Saville (Windwliistle Winter Sports Club), 37 2-5s and 4Ss; W. lOlliott (Otago), 53s and 42 2-ss. Women's Slalom.—Miss P. Brewer (Dunedin), CGs and 5S 2-ss: P. Lansoll (Melbourne), 80s and 545; M. Miller, 90s and Gss. The sports were well patronised, about 50 people being quartered at the Bull Hut.
