THEFT OF CAGE BIRDS.
A plea of not guilty to a charge of stealing a bird cage -and three budgerigars, of a . total, value of £1, . the property of Amy Davidson, was entered by William John Frederick Moore, who appeared on summons in the Police Court yesterday. Counsel for defendant, Mr. Aekins, said Moore admitted having had the birds in his possession at one time, but had been drunk and had had no intention of stealing them. When sober, he had called upon the owner of the birds to explain the matter. In reply to the magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., the defendant said he did not know where the birds were. Defendant was fined £2, wrfch costs, and ordered to make restitution of £1.
