THIRTY-EIGHT CHARGES
FOUR BOYS BEFORE COURT. Four boys in their early 'teens pleaded guilty before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. in the Children's Court this morning, to a total of 38 charges, comprising theft, breaking and entering, conversion of a car and conversion of a dinghy, the dinghy having been used by two of the boys in order to board and loot yachts and launches. Most of the thefts were committed aboard pleasure craft, but some of the boys had also broken into shops, boatslieds and a picture theatre, and had stolen handbags from a skating rink. Two. of the boys were reported to be subnormal.
One boy admitted 17 charges, and the others 12, six and three charges respectively, having committed the offences in company with the first boy. All were put Tinder the supervision of the Child Welfare Department for various terms.
