brother and sister meet. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Wednesday. The story of the reunion, after 50 years, of a Hamilton resident, 1 Mr. J. H. Scott, with his'sister, Mrs. Sarah Salter, in Tipton, United States, is told in an issue of the "Tipton Daily Tribune," which has been received here. > Mr. Scott and his sister were separated when their mother died. Both Mrs. Salter and her brother, although greatly changed since their last meeting, affirmed that they would have recognised each other. Mr. Seott had lived in Hamilton for 35 years.

INVITATION FROM WELLINGTON

At the meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Board of Control last evening, Mr. G. Grey Campbell presiding, a letter was received from the Wellington Control Board inviting the Auckland Maori representative team to play in Wellington later in the season.

The' chairman said that no doubt the Maori team would be a great draw. However, all local representative players would have to be considered if there was any tour South, but the invitation could be held over for- attention later on. At present it did not seem possible to assemble the Maori team to include also the star players who were with competition sides, and some probably would be play against England. For the New Zealand Council, Mr. R. Doble reported that the South Island team would be welcomed this evening and that the Governor-General had been officially invited to attend the big match on Saturday. . With regard to the suggestion of a Maori v The Rest curtain-raiser to the inter-Island match. Mr. Campbell said that it was thought better to play an A and B trial, because of the need for trying out any possible players to assist the New Zealand selectors for teams to represent against England. It was decided to grant the use of playing gear to the New Zealand Maori Control Board for the Waitangi Shield challenge match between Tamaki and Takahiwai at Carlaw Park next Wednesa lengthy discussion regarding the ground placing* for the next championship series of fixtures on Saturday week, showing a keen division of opinion as to the matches for No. 1 ground, the Pon-sonby-Mount Albert game was favoured for 3 p.m. As the result of the draw the City-Manukau engagement will be played at 1.30 p.m., the Marist-Riclimond match therefore being declared the 3 p.m. game for No. 2 ground, preceded by Devonport v. Newton Rangers. Registrations: L. G. Andrews, Symonds Street, and R. I. Hobbs, Grey Lynn, to Newton Rangers, subject to transfer from Richmond; F. Moat (ex Tokomaru Bay) and A. Finla.vson (ex -North Auckland) to Marist Old Boys. The reinstatement of Phil Donovan_>vas granted, subject to approval by the >»ew Zealand Council, which notified that the clearance of -C.- Williams from ivoitliland to Auckland was in order.

SOUTH ISLAND TEAM.

ARRIVAL THIS MORNING. ' The South Island team, which is to meet the North Island at Carlaw Park on Saturday, arrived this morning by the early express and was met by council and Auckland League officials. The team, with two reserves, is in charge of the; South Island selector Mr. J. E. A. Amos, who expressed quiet confidence in tile ability of the side to more than extend the elect of the North. The Southerners, seven of whom will be making their first appearance. in Auckland, certainly' look a very fit and likely lot of good footballers. After breakfast at the Commercial Hotel, most of them rested in- view of light training this afternoon. Visitors with the team are Mr. Sydney Cooke, secretary of the Addington Club in Christchurch, Mr. H. C. King, a member of the Canterbury Referees' Association; and Mr. J. Sollett, an official of the Sydenham Club.

THE AUCKLAND DEFENDERS. The team to represent "Auckland (Tamaki) Maoris, to defend a challenge from the Northland (Takahhvai) Maoris, at Carlaw I'ark on Wednesday next, July 15, will be selected from Hcmi, Murray, Brown, Biekerton. TOOWOOMBA EXTENDS ENGLAND. BRISBANE, July 8. The English Rugby League team to-day defeated Toowooniba by 10 points to 8, before 10,000 spectators. The gate receipts amounted to £450. The scorers were:— England.—Tries : Hodgson and Brogden. Goals : Hodgson, two. Toowooniba.—Tries: Mahon and Gilbert. Goal : Gilbert. The game was hard and occasionally rough. England fielded a strong side.
