HOOLIGANISM.

YOUTHS AT POTTER'S PARK. BOY DIPPED IN TROUGH. As the result of action taken by the police following complaints of hooliganism a Potter's Park, Dominion Road, three youths of 17 appeared on summons in the Police Court this morning, before Mr. W. R. Mclvean, S.M., charged with disorderly behaviour. They pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector Fox said there were seven youths involved, but four who were under 17 years would be dealt with by the Children's Court. "These three boys carried another boy of 15 to u water trough and dipped him in," said the sub-inspector. "They also took his trousers off and his shoes, but after he had been running round without his nether garments for a time they returned them to him." Mr. Fox also said that the boy who had been dipped would probably be charged at the Children's Court. Asked if they had anything to say, one of the three boys said the boy who was "dipped" had sworn at him. "Well, that would not hurt you much," said Mr. Mclvean. Another of the trio said he took no part in the dipping, but merely assisted in the taking off of the trousers. Remarking that he did not wish to enter a conviction against the three defendants, Mr. McKean said it was apparent that they wanted to be placed under some control. Without convicting them, Mr. Mclvean placed them under the supervision of the probation officer for two years, and warned them that if they dicl not behave themselves they would be punished .
