WOMAN'S DEATH.
WHILE UNDER OPERATION. ■ I CORONER'S COMMENT. " I '4 The inquest touching the death of a married woman, Catherine Carrick, aged 3D, of 151, Jervois Road, Heme Bay, While undergoing an operation in a private hospital oil the morning of June 20, was concluded yesterday afternoon by Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M. The doctor who attended the patient, the surgeon who operated, and the doctor who administered the anaesthetic gave evidence. "This is one of those unfortunate cases which do occur at times," said the coroner in returning a verdict that the causo of death was heart failure resulting from acute poisoning of the heart, and acute infection of the gall bladder, accelerated by the administration of the anaesthetic. The coroner said the anaesthetic used was recognised as the safest in such cases, and the operation was regarded as urgent, and only decided upon after a thorough examination of the patent had been made. "'I find that there is no suggestion of any improper administration or anything going wrong during the operation," he concluded.
