There has been quite a number of letters appearing in the "Star" lately on prison reform; no doubt the present system could be improved on. It seems nowadays that prisons are expected to be places of enjoyment instead of correction. If people will break the law.? and do wrong they must expect when caught that they will be punished; while that is in progress of accomplishment one hopes they also see their folly and wickedness. Prisons are not intended to attract, I always understood, so why make them more attractive? All honour is due to those who make a point of meeting the "ex-con." when hi* time is up.
