TAKAPUNA FINANCES

BURDEN OF INTEREST. Estimates for the current year were approved at the meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council last evening. It v. as decided to strike a consolidated loan of 1/ in the £ 011 the unimproved value, the same as last year, and this is estimated to produce £33.000. The borough's debit balance, brought forward at the end of the last financial year, was £23,079, and the statement of receipts anjj expenditure estimates that this will be reduced to £10,829 at the end of the present financial year. Apart from rates, petrol tax ( £1000) is the only appreciable source of revenue. On the expenditure side the borough is faced with interest and sinking funds 011 loans which amounts to £22,315. The hospital levy is £2095. Capital expenditure contemplated amounts to £5248, this amount being made up with new street formation, bus stop sealing, road haunches, kerbing and channeling, sewer cleaning arid extension, and water main extensions.
