AUCKLAND CONTROL BOARD

WELLINGTON CONGRATULATED

WAITANGI SHIELD FIXTURE.

Opening the meeting of the Control Board of the Auckland Rugby League last evening, the chairman, Mr. G. Grey Campbell. said he had received many congratulations upon the King's Birthday programme at Carlaw Park. The Welling-' ton management and players deserved credit for the exhibition given by their representative team, the splendid way in which it was equipped and the conduct of the boys on and off the field. The Auckland and Maori teams also were to be commended for their displays and the fine spirit which marked the games. Ills schoolboys' committee, with the wellarranged parade of teams and players and by the series of introductory seven-a-side matches, provided a much appreciated feature of the day. The New Zealand Maori Control Board was granted, without prejudice, the use of Carlaw Park for Wednesday July 8, for the Waitangi Shield challenge match between Tamaki (Auckland) and Northland (Takahiwai). A letter from the Royal Life-saving Society seeking the assistance of the Auckland Rugby League ladies' committee to control a street stall on "Life-saving Day" was referred to the committee concerned.
