VARIED INTEREST.
'N.Z. WOMAN'S WEEKLY'
FREE TRIP TO SYDNEY.
PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION.
So much of varied interest is packed into the "New Zealand Woman's Weekly" this week that it is difficult to know just what features will appeal most to most women. However, everyone is sure to be interested in the new series of articles, "What Type Are You?" which begins with "the ovalfaced blonde." Women are divided by scientists into six types, and these articles, which will deal with each type in turn, will be found very helpful. "Miracles in Glass" will surprise many readers. Glass is now being used for hats, fabrics, knitting and fancy work.
... In personal vein a Sydney contributor describes the unique success achieved in the broadcasting world there by a Gisborne girl, for whose services the commercial stations in ,Sydney are now keen competitors. On the practical side the cooking pages are devoted this week to fish suppers for Sundays, two knitting pages give full directions for a jumper and cardigan respectively, and another page tells how attractive rugs can be made out of oddments of wool.
An intimate life story of Carole Lombard, telling all about her personal preferences, as well as the story of her career, is the main feature of the .film pages, which also contain a curious account of the strange lives which Britain's 30,000 film extras lead.
The display of garments entered in the National Knitting Contest will open at George Court and Sons, Limited, next Monday.
Next week's issue will contain full details of a simple photographic competition, starting immediately, for which the first prize will be a free trip to Svdney or, alternatively, a cash prize of £40.
